What we work with
Common reasons people reach out

Trauma & difficult experiences
Talking about past experiences can be difficult. Sometimes we push them so far down that we live our lives in avoidance and denial of how much they affect us.
At Shine Strong Psychology, we understand how emotionally uncomfortable it can be to work through trauma. We go at the pace you want to go at, and offer self-directed therapy. We integrate listening and understanding with a range of skills and therapeutic measures.
All of our onsite clinicians are trained in EMDR, a form of therapy that uses eye movement to reprocess traumatic memories.
Low mood & depression
Depression can feel like a dark cloud over your life. Mild depression might make life seem less enjoyable, while major depression can be debilitating. The experience of depression is different for everyone, and often deeply personal.
Even if you're unsure where to start, our psychologists meet you where you are. We help you resolve underlying issues and put strategies in place for increasing and maintaining your wellbeing.
We'll find a method that works for you and match it to your lifestyle, so the transition is easier and sustainable.
Anxiety & panic attacks
Anxiety and panic attacks can feel hard to control. Therapy can help you learn ways to manage anxious thoughts and explore what may be keeping them going, so you can feel more at ease.
Relationship issues
Communication breakdowns, conflict, trust or feeling disconnected. We offer couples therapy to help you both be heard and find a way forward together.
ADHD & neuroaffirming care
We offer neuroaffirming support for people with ADHD and autism, working with how your brain works rather than against it. Together we build strategies that fit your strengths, needs and everyday life.
Grief & loss
Grief can touch every part of life, whether through bereavement, a relationship ending or another significant loss. We offer a compassionate space to make sense of your loss and find your way forward.

Our approach
Warm, practical and on your terms
Therapy works best when you feel safe with the person you're talking to. So we start by listening. Then we work with you to understand what's going on and what you'd like to change, and we choose the therapy that fits you. It shouldn't be the other way round.
Our clinicians draw on a range of therapies to use the ones that suit you best. Some forms of therapy include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, somatic-based therapy and other evidence-based approaches. Our practice is neurodiversity-affirming, LGBTQIA+ inclusive and culturally safe.
